“The hand of Allah is with the group.”

The collective work of a group should, however, be aimed at achieving a certain goal ; otherwise, it looses its raison d’etre (reason for being). Allah SWT says : “And there should be a leading group among you who should invite (people) towards good and enjoin that which is recognized (as good) and forbid that which is not recognized (as good), and those are the persons who are successful”

Islam does not want the believers to be in a state of weakness and therefore requires a culture of entrepreneurship, unity & independence by producing something of benefit to society and avoiding all things that are harmful to them (haram).

This concept is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings, where unity and cooperation are paramount.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized the importance of working together and supporting one another. He said, “The believers, in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy, are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever” (Sahih Bukhari).
And In the Quran, Allah commands us to cooperate in righteousness and piety : “Help one another in acts of righteousness and piety. And do not assist each other in acts of sinfulness and transgression” (Quran 5:2)
He also says : “The believer is the brother of another believer, and it is not permissible for a believer to outbid [or undercut] his brother or propose marriage when his brother has already proposed, unless the latter gives up the idea”
(Sahih Muslim 1414)
This principle extends to all aspects of our interactions, emphasizing the importance of unity and mutual support.
An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) explained that undercutting one’s brother, such as offering a better deal to cancel an existing agreement, is Haram. This practice undermines trust and cooperation within the community.
These principles further prove the critical need of Muslims to leverage the power of cooperation and to work towards uplifting and empowering its members, in line with the teachings of Islam.
Working together as a collective is not just beneficial; it is a fundamental aspect of our faith and a command from Allah and one that should be considered a communal obligation (Fard-Kifaya).
